1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1009 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Meagan Shea Stanley 1-6 WHEREAS, The passing of Meagan Shea Stanley of the Big Spring 1-7 community, on April 11, 1997, at the age of 17, has brought a great 1-8 loss to the family and many friends of this fine young Texan; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The daughter of Dickey and Cinda Stanley, she was 1-10 born in Big Spring on January 14, 1980, and was a junior at Forsan 1-11 High School; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society, Ms. Stanley 1-13 successfully balanced the demands of her course work to participate 1-14 in a variety of extracurricular activities; in addition to playing 1-15 tennis for three years, she was a varsity cheerleader and manager 1-16 of the school's basketball team; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman demonstrated her 1-18 leadership abilities as a member of the student council, and she 1-19 found an outlet for her many other talents as a member of the band 1-20 and the flag corps and as an actress in school plays; and 1-21 WHEREAS, She was also known for her warm and friendly 1-22 personality, and she was class favorite and was voted band 1-23 sweetheart and football sweetheart during her junior year; and 2-1 WHEREAS, The qualities that endeared her to so many emanated 2-2 from her deep faith as a member of the First United Methodist Church, 2-3 where she was active in the Signal Mountain and High-Sky Emmaus; and 2-4 WHEREAS, All who knew and loved Meagan Stanley will long miss 2-5 her presence; though her life has been cut tragically short, her 2-6 unique spirit will surely endure in the hearts of those whose lives 2-7 she touched for many years to come; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 75th Texas Legislature 2-9 hereby pay tribute to the life of Meagan Shea Stanley and extend 2-10 sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her parents, 2-11 Dickey and Cinda Stanley; to her brother, Logan Stanley; to her 2-12 grandparents, Delbert and Barbara Stanley and Jo Fitz and John Koop; 2-13 and to the many other friends and relatives of this beloved young 2-14 woman; and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-16 for the members of her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns 2-17 this day, it do so in memory of Meagan Shea Stanley. 2-18 Fraser 2-19 Duncan 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on June 2, 1997, by a rising vote. 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Secretary of the Senate 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Member, Texas Senate
