LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session March 3, 1997 TO: Honorable Barry Telford, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 9 Committee on Pensions and Investments By: Stiles House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB9 ( Relating to the prepaid higher education tuition program.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB9-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would clarify various administrative issues of the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Program and the Texas Tomorrow Fund. The fund is a self-sustaining. All administrative and operating costs are paid for by the proceeds of the sale of contracts. The bill would allow the state to contribute to the prepaid higher education tuition scholarships. It is not known if the state would contribute. However, if state contributions were made, it is not expected that they would have a significant fiscal impact.
