Fiscal Analysis

The bill would change various election dates.
The bill would take effect September 1, 1997.

Methodology

Primary
and runoff elections would be conducted on a Saturday instead
of the current Tuesday, a time when most public buildings are
open. Currently, there usually is not a cost for the use of
public buildings for polling locations.

The bill would
provide that, if the election day is a day on which the public
building is usually not open, a reasonable charge may be made
only for the reimbursement for actual expenses resulting from
the use of the building, excluding rent. It is not expected
that these charges would be significant.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
