LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 28, 1997 TO: Honorable Irma Rangel, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 269, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted Committee on Higher Education By: Counts House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB269 ( Relating to exempting members of the Texas National Guard from tuition charged by an institution of higher education.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB269-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. Similar annual fiscal implications This bill would allow institutions of higher education to exempt members of the Texas state military forces from tuition, with a semester limit of 675 members. An exemption, if granted, would average approximately $272 per student at a university and $177 per student at a community college.
