In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB269 ( Relating
to exempting members of the Texas National Guard from tuition
charged by an institution of higher education.) this office
has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB269-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Similar annual fiscal implications This bill would allow institutions
of higher education to exempt members of the Texas state military
forces from tuition, with a semester limit of 675 members.
An exemption, if granted, would average approximately $272 per
student at a university and $177 per student at a community
college.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.
