LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session March 30, 1997 TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 727 Committee on Public Health By: Van de Putte House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB727 ( Relating to the regulation of massage therapy; providing penalties.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB727-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the Board of Health to adopt rules that specify general course content and the minimum hours of instruction in each subject area of the massage therapy curriculum. The Department should be able to absorb costs of rules development as a part of its regular business. The bill would have no fiscal impact on the State Office of Administrative Hearings. The Office of the Attorney General may handle an average of three new cases per fiscal year (related to petitions for judicial review), but any additional work could be provided by current staff. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
