"Pete" Laney IN RE: House Bill No. 836, As Passed 2nd House Speaker of the House Gallego House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB836 ( Relating to optional extended year programs conducted by certain public school districts.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB836-As Passed 2nd House No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The added requirement that students must satisfy the requirements for promotion prescribed by Section 28.021 would have the effect of clarifying that student performance and attendance are equally important criteria in the promotion of Optional Extended Year Program participants. Districts that promote fewer students in reaction to this bill would increase education costs associated with teaching these students, but these costs are not expected to be significant.
