FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
March 23, 1997
TO: Honorable Steven Wolens, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 912
Committee on State Affairs By: Hirschi
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB912 ( Relating
to certain inherently unsafe products.) this office has detemined
the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB912-As Introduced
No significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.
The Attorney General states that the bill could lead to product
liability lawsuits against the state in instances where the
state is a provider of tobacco to people in its custody, but
the Attorney General anticipates that any legal work as a result
of the passage of this bill could be reasonably absorbed with
current staff and resources.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
