LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
May 31, 1997
TO: Honorable Bob Bullock Honorable James E. "Pete" Laney
Lieutenant Governor Speaker of the House
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1107 ( relating
to the continuation and functions of the State Preservation
board) this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1107-Conference Committee Report
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
The bill would continue the
agency for 10 years, setting the date for the next Sunset review
as September 1, 2007. In addition, the bill would allow the
Governor, Lt. Governor, or Speaker of the House to designate
a representative to act on the board member's behalf during
a board meeting.
The bill would authorize the agency to develop
and construct a state history museum in the Capitol complex.
METHODOLOGY
The
State Preservation Board is subject to the provisions of the
Texas Sunset Act, and unless continued by the 75th Legislature,
will be abolished September 1, 1997. Funding for the State
Preservation Board is included in the General Appropriations
bill, as introduced, and is contingent upon passage of H.B.
1107 or similar legislation. The General Appropriations bill,
as adopted by the House and the Senate, would provide $4,920,589
in general revenue funding and 75.5 employees in each fiscal
year of the 1998-99 biennium.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
