LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session February 17, 1997 TO: Honorable Allen Hightower, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1155 Committee on Corrections By: Hightower House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1155 ( Relating to the continuation and functions of the Criminal Justice Policy Council.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1155-As Introduced Implementing the provisions of the bill would result in a net impact of $0 to General Revenue Related Funds through the biennium ending August 31, 1999. The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. Fiscal Analysis The bill would amend Chapter 412, Government Code, as amended, and redesignate Section 413.014 of that chapter as Sections 413.004 and 413.005. The bill would abolish the Criminal Justice Policy Council Board and allow for governor appointed advisory boards. The bill continues the agency for 12 years and sets the date for the next Sunset review as September 1, 2009. Methodology The Criminal Justice Policy Council is subject to the provisions of the Texas Sunset Act, and unless continued by the 75th Legislature, will be abolished September 1, 1997. Funding for the Criminal Justice Policy Council is included in the General Appropriations Act, as introduced, and is contingent upon passage on H.B. 1155 or similar legislation. The appropriations would be financed from general revenue, grants, and federal funds and would provide $1,193,956 and 28 employees in fiscal year 1998 and $1,193,956 and 28 employees in fiscal year 1999.
