LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 16, 1997 TO: Honorable Allen Place, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1323 Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence By: Luna, Wilma House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1323 ( Relating to a fee collected by a prosecutor for collecting and processing a dishonored or forged check or similar sight order.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1323-As Introduced No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. A county district attorney's office could increase revenues if it raised fees associated with collecting and processing dishonored or forged checks, as authorized by this bill. The amount of increase in revenues would depend on the number of bad checks for which a county imposes a fee and the collection rate in the county. Dallas County estimates that this bill would increase revenues to the county district attorney's Hot Check Fund by $71,250 per year.
