LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 18, 1997 TO: Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1403, As Engrossed Committee on Jurisprudence By: Kamel Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1403 ( Relating to the statutory county courts of Smith County.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1403-As Engrossed No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would create an additional county court at law for Smith County. Adding another county court at law will generate revenue from fees but will incur capital and operating costs, including salary expenses. Smith County officials estimate a net cost of $199,440 in the first year the new court is established. Thereafter it is expected that the county will incur net costs of $49,440 annually.
