In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1403 ( Relating
to the statutory county courts of Smith County.) this office
has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1403-As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create an additional county court at law for
Smith County. Adding another county court at law will generate
revenue from fees but will incur capital and operating costs,
including salary expenses. Smith County officials estimate
a net cost of $199,440 in the first year the new court is established.
Thereafter it is expected that the county will incur net costs
of $49,440 annually.
