In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1629 ( Relating
to the tuition charged to certain foreign students with financial
need at certain public institutions of higher education.) this
office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1629-As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Similar annual fiscal implications This bill would allow students
from Mexico with financial need to pay resident tuition rates
at Texas A&M -Corpus Christi. Currently, three Mexican students
attend Texas A&M Corpus Christi. It is assumed that the number
of students would double to six and that 50% of those students
would have financial need. The general revenue costs for FY
98 and FY 99 is estimated to be $61,000.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
