FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
May 23, 1997
TO: Honorable Bob Bullock Honorable James E. "Pete" Laney
Lieutenant Governor Speaker of the House
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1710 ( Relating
to the appointment of bailiffs for the district courts in Tarrant
County that give preference to criminal cases.) this office
has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1710-Conference Committee Report
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow district courts with preference for criminal
cases in Tarrant County to hire two bailiffs and one grand jury
bailiff. County officials estimate that if courts elect to
hire the additional bailiffs, the cost to Tarrant County would
range from just over $30,000 to $113,725 annually, depending
upon how many bailiffs were certified peace officers.
