"Pete" Laney Lieutenant Governor Speaker of the House Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1710 ( Relating to the appointment of bailiffs for the district courts in Tarrant County that give preference to criminal cases.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1710-Conference Committee Report No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would allow district courts with preference for criminal cases in Tarrant County to hire two bailiffs and one grand jury bailiff. County officials estimate that if courts elect to hire the additional bailiffs, the cost to Tarrant County would range from just over $30,000 to $113,725 annually, depending upon how many bailiffs were certified peace officers.
