LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 9, 1997 TO: Honorable Bob Hunter, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1812 Committee on State, Federal & International Relations By: Hunter House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1812 ( Relating to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the preservation, management, and disposition of state records and other historical resources.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1812-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Chapter 441 of the Government Code by adding a new subchapter L to consolidate and modernize several statutes relating to the management and preservation of state records and by repealing various sections and subchapters of current law related to state records. The bill would take effect September 1, 1997. The bill clarifies many ambiguous portions of current law, and in some cases adds new language, but does not confer any significant new authority to the State Library and Archives Commission. A portion of the bill granting the commission authority to sell duplicate or unwanted state archives would result in a very small gain to general revenue of approximately $1,000 per year. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source: Agencies: 306 Library and Archives Commission LBB Staff: JK ,TH ,JA
