         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1820 ( relating
to the tuition charged to certain foreign students with financial
need at certain components of the Texas State Technical College
System and at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi) this office
has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1820-As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

The bill would exempt certain students from Mexico who attend
Texas State Technical College -Harlingen and Texas A&M University--Corpus
Christi. There are currently nine students from Mexico who
attend TSTC-Harlingen and three from Texas A&M University--Corpus
Christi. Although this number is expected to increase, the
fiscal impact to the state would not be significant.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
