"Pete" Laney IN RE: House Bill No. 1820, As Passed 2nd House Speaker of the House Solis House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1820 ( relating to the tuition charged to certain foreign students with financial need at certain components of the Texas State Technical College System and at Texas A&M University-- Corpus Christi) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1820-As Passed 2nd House No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated. The bill would exempt certain students from Mexico who attend Texas State Technical College -Harlingen, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, and Texas Southmost College in Brownsville. There are currently nine students from Mexico who attend TSTC-Harlingen, three from Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, and 20 from Texas Southmost College in Brownsville. Although this number is expected to increase, the fiscal impact to the state would not be significant. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
