LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
March 18, 1997
TO: Honorable Edmund Kuempel, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1941
Committee on State Recreational Resources By: Place
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB1941 ( Relating
to the automatic suspension of hunting and fishing licenses
held by persons convicted of poaching.) this office has detemined
the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB1941-As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would automatically revoke the hunting or fishing license
of a person convicted of hunting or fishing without the consent
of the landowner. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department would
be prohibited from issuing a hunting or fishing license to the
convicted person for a period of one year after the date of
revocation.
The agency estimates the annual revenue loss
to the Game, Fish and Water Safety Account 009 to be $(12,512).
The estimate is based on the number of similar convictions
in FY 1996 multiplied by the $32 cost of a combination license.
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as
the provisions of the bill are in effect.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
