                                   FISCAL NOTE
                               75th Regular Session

TO: Honorable James E. "Pete" Laney IN RE: House Bill No. 2071, As Passed 2nd House
          Speaker of the House Gutierrez
          House of Representatives
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2071 ( Relating
to the qualifications to serve as constable and to the powers
and duties of constables and deputy constables.) this office
has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2071-As Passed 2nd House

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.

Some counties could experience a loss in
revenues associated with eviction notice fees currently collected
and retained by counties, since, upon passage of this bill,
it is assumed that a constable would no longer remit such fees
to a county. However, it is not anticipated that the loss in
revenues would be significant.
