TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2071, Committee Report 2nd House, as amended
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Gutierrez
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2071 ( Relating
to qualifications required to hold the office of constable.)
this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2071-Committee Report 2nd House, as amended

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.

Some counties could experience a loss in
revenues associated with eviction notice fees currently collected
and retained by counties, since, upon passage of this bill,
it is assumed that a constable would no longer remit such fees
to a county. However, it is not anticipated that the loss in
revenues would be significant.
