         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2083 ( Relating
to county auditors who serve more than one county.) this office
has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2083-As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would allow would extend provisions currently in effect
for counties with populations of less than 25,000 to jointly
employ the same county auditor for two or more counties to all
counties except Harris County.

This bill could result in
a savings to counties which choose to share a county auditor
with another county auditor. Burnet and Llano Counties currently
employ the same county auditor. Burnet County estimates that
this arrangement saves the county approximately $5,900 per year
and Llano County estimates annual savings of approximately $2,600.
