LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session March 28, 1997 TO: Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2508 Committee on Human Services By: Hilderbran House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2508 ( Relating to a study and a pilot project related to the use of finger-imaging in the electronic benefits transfer program.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2508-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would have no impact on general revenue funds as the bill stipulates that the Department of Human Services shall implement the pilot project using only private and federal funds, and at no cost to retailers who participate in the project. The department has not determined what funding source would be utilized. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
