LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
April 1, 1997
TO: Honorable Irma Rangel, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2626
Committee on Higher Education By: Delisi
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2626 ( Relating
to the creation of a statewide preceptorship program in public
health settings.) this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2626-As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide
the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the
provisions of the bill.
Similar annual fiscal implications The Board would administer
the program as an extension of existing preceptorship programs
in internal medicine and pediatrics at no additional cost to
the state. Additional funds could be provided by the Legislature
for this program. It is also assumed that while medical schools
and nonprofit facilities may incur some costs in overseeing
or operating the preceptorships, those costs would be covered
in the allocation from the Coordinating Board.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
