LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 2, 1997 TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2641 Committee on Public Health By: Seaman House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2641 ( Relating to the funding of certain peer assistance programs.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2641-As Introduced Implementing the provisions of the bill would result in a net positive impact of $173,898 to General Revenue Related Funds through the biennium ending August 31, 1999. Fiscal Analysis The bill would increase the maximum surcharge the Board of Dental Examiners may charge to licensees to fund an approved peer assistance program from $5 to $10. Methodolgy The Board of Dental Examiners currently assesses dentists a $5 surcharge and dental hygienists a $2 surcharge. The estimates below assume some growth in licensee population from a base of approximately 12,000 dentists and 8,000 dental hygienists in 1998.
