FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
April 10, 1997
TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2702, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
Committee on Judicial Affairs By: Zbranek
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2702 ( Relating
to the payment of certain probate fees.) this office has detemined
the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2702-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is expected that the bill will result in a revenue loss to
counties. Probate fees in county courts are currently paid
for services performed by the county court from initiation of
the action until an order approving the inventory and appraisement
is filed, or the 120th day after the action is filed, whichever
occurs first. After the deadline, there is an additional fee
for filing and recording documents. It is expected that the
loss of these fees would result in a statewide fiscal impact
of over $2 million annually.
