TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2837
Committee on Judicial Affairs By: Thompson
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB2837 ( Relating
to the imposition and collection of additional court costs in
certain counties and to the salaries of certain statutory county
court judges.) this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB2837-As Introduced
The bill would delete the court costs and fees collected under
Section 51.702 of the Government Code that are deposited to
the Judicial Fund and remitted to the county's general fund.
The bill would be a revenue loss to the 59 counties who participate
in collecting the fees under Sec. 51.702 of the Government Code
and who receive a corresponding state contribution. This amount
was $25,000 per county court at law judge in fiscal year 1996.
