LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 28, 1997 TO: Honorable Clyde Alexander, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 3250, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted Committee on Transportation By: Hartnett House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB3250 ( Relating to dog and cat sterilization and the issuance of Animal Friendly license plates.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB3250-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would create a new dedicated Animal Friendly Account in the General Revenue Fund. The account would receive money from gifts, grants, donations, legislative appropriations, and from a fee for a new, specially designed license plate. The Department of Health would administer the account and could utilize the funds to issue grants to eligible organizations that sterilize animals owned by the general public at cost or no cost and to defray the cost of administering the account.
