         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB3259 ( Relating
to the implementation of a work training program for recipients
of public assistance.) this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB3259-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would require the Texas Workforce Commission to establish
a pilot program to provide training and apprenticeships in allied
health professions for recipients of public assistance. The
commission would use funds appropriated to the Skills Development
Fund to establish this pilot program. The bill would require
the commission to award grants to public community and technical
colleges that have formed partnerships with public or private
hospitals, hospital districts, or other health-related businesses,
networks, or consortiums. The bill also expands the statutory
purposes of the Skills Development Fund to include training
and apprenticeships in allied health professions for recipients
of public assistance.

No fiscal implication to units of local
government is anticipated.
