LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 18, 1997 TO: Honorable Rene Oliveira, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 3259, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted Committee on Economic Development By: Coleman House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HB3259 ( Relating to the implementation of a work training program for recipients of public assistance.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HB3259-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would require the Texas Workforce Commission to establish a pilot program to provide training and apprenticeships in allied health professions for recipients of public assistance. The commission would use funds appropriated to the Skills Development Fund to establish this pilot program. The bill would require the commission to award grants to public community and technical colleges that have formed partnerships with public or private hospitals, hospital districts, or other health-related businesses, networks, or consortiums. The bill also expands the statutory purposes of the Skills Development Fund to include training and apprenticeships in allied health professions for recipients of public assistance.
