LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
April 14, 1997
TO: Honorable Ron E. Lewis, Chair IN RE: House Joint Resolution
No. 73
Committee on County Affairs By: Chisum
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on HJR73 ( Proposing
a constitutional amendment authorizing counties to maintain
private roads that are used by public school buses.) this office
has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by HJR73-As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than
the cost of publication.
The cost to the state for publication
of the resolution is $71,000.
A county that chooses to maintain private roads, as a result
of the approval of this resolution by voters on November 4,
1997, would incur per-mile maintenance costs similar to the
cost associated with maintaining county-owned roads. The total
cost to a county would depend on the number of miles of private
roads such a county chose to maintain.
