LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session February 3, 1997 TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 187 Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Madla Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB187 ( Relating to the allocation of money in the law enforcement officer standards and education account to local law enforcement agencies.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB187-As Introduced The provisions of this bill would take effect upon passage and would require each local law enforcement agency to report to the comptroller the number of positions in the agency. It would remove the requirement for counties and municipalities to submit annual audits to the comptroller. Enactment of this bill would facilitate the process the comptroller currently uses to determine the allocation of funds to be distributed to local law enforcement agencies. No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect.
