                               75th Regular Session

TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 187
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Madla
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB187 ( Relating to the
allocation of money in the law enforcement officer standards and education
account to local law enforcement agencies.) this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB187-As Introduced

The provisions of this bill would take effect upon passage and would require
each local law enforcement agency to report to the comptroller the number of positions
in the agency. It would remove the requirement for counties and municipalities to submit
annual audits to the comptroller. Enactment of this bill would facilitate the process the
comptroller currently uses to determine the allocation of funds to be distributed to local
law enforcement agencies.

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
