LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session January 28, 1997 TO: Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 219 Committee on Jurisprudence By: Haywood Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB219 ( Realting to the application of the professional prosecutors law to the district attorney for the 100th Judicial District.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB219-As Introduced Implementing the provisions of the bill would result in a net negative impact of $(36,630) to General Revenue Related Funds through the biennium ending August 31, 1999. The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would apply the professional prosecutors law to the district attorney for the 100th Judicial District, increasing the salary of the district attorney, but prohibiting the private practice of law. Fiscal Analysis The table includes the funding difference between the salary level of a district attorney under the professional prosecutors act and the current salary of the district attorney, who is not included in the act. Methodolgy The amount includes the salary, state contribution to retirement and state matching medicare differential.
