TO: Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 222, Committee Report 1st House
          Committee on Jurisprudence By: Sibley
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB222 ( Relating
to retirement benefits payable for service as a district or
criminal district attorney.) this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB222-Committee Report 1st House

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would increase the liabilities and the normal cost
of the Employees Retirement System as a result of the increase
in benefits provided to district attorneys, criminal district
attorneys, and county attorneys performing the duties of a district
attorney. However, because of the large actuarial surplus in
that fund, an increase in state contributions to the program
would not be necessary.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
