TO: Honorable David Sibley, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 386
Committee on Economic Development By: Sibley/et al.
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB386 ( Relating
to health care liability claims.) this office has detemined
the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB386-As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Currently, it appears that SB 386 has no fiscal impact on TRS.
However, if TRS-Care is granted authority to contract with
HMO's, this could increase the liability of the system.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
