         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB403 ( Relating
to funding of the Medicaid disproportionate share program through
an assessment imposed against certain hospitals and hospital
districts.) this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB403-As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would repeal Chapter 2, Acts of the 72nd Legislature,
1st Called session, 1991 (Article 4494q-2, Vernon's Civil Statutes),
relating to the funding of the Medicaid Disproportionate Share
Program through an assessment on hospitals and hospital districts.
The provider tax in question has become inconsistent with federal
law and is no longer assessed.

No fiscal implication to units
of local government is anticipated.
