TO: Honorable Tom Craddick, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 492,

House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB492 ( Relating
to the cancellation and removal from the delinquent tax roll
of an ad valorem tax on certain real property.)) this office
has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB492-As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Property Tax Code to require the collector
for a taxing unit to cancel and remove from the tax roll a tax
on real property that has been delinquent for more than 10 years,
if the property has been owned for at least the preceding 8
years by a home-rule municipality in a county with a population
of more than two million.
The bill would provide an exception
to current law requiring a collector to cancel delinquent taxes
on real property that had been delinquent for more than 20 years.
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.
