LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session March 25, 1997 TO: Honorable Tom Craddick, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 492, As Engrossed Committee on Ways & Means By: Patterson, Jerry House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB492 ( Relating to the cancellation and removal from the delinquent tax roll of an ad valorem tax on certain real property.)) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB492-As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Property Tax Code to require the collector for a taxing unit to cancel and remove from the tax roll a tax on real property that has been delinquent for more than 10 years, if the property has been owned for at least the preceding 8 years by a home-rule municipality in a county with a population of more than two million. The bill would provide an exception to current law requiring a collector to cancel delinquent taxes on real property that had been delinquent for more than 20 years.
