                               75th Regular Session

TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 662, Committee Report 1st House, as amended
Committee on Health & Human Services By: Moncrief
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB662 ( Relating
to the unauthorized practice of chiropractic; providing civil
penalties and injunctive relief.) this office has detemined
the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB662-Committee Report 1st House, as amended

No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The Board of Chiropractic Examiners would be
able to monitor whether an owner or operator of a chiropractic
facility is licensed to practice chiropractic based on the information
which they already collect. In addition, the Board has recently
begun to do compliance visits across the state and would be
able to check whether an owner is a licensed chiropractor during
the visit.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
