LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
March 7, 1997
TO: Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 756
Committee on Jurisprudence By: Brown
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB756 ( Relating
to certain juror donations used to compensate victims of crime.)
this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB756-As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as
the provisions of the bill are in effect.
The bill would amend the Government Code by replacing the current
requirement that prospective jurors summoned for jury duty be
given a form letter with the option to donate their jurors'
reimbursement to the Compensation to Victims of Crime, with
a requirement that each prospective juror reporting for jury
service be given that same form letter.
This would reduce
the workload and mailing expenses of local govenments by limiting
the form letter only to those who actually report for jury service.
