LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 4, 1997 TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 892, Committee Report 1st House, as amended Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Ellis Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB892 ( Relating to the formation of a commission to study issues relating to the consolidation of local governments.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB892-Committee Report 1st House, as amended No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would create a commission to study local government consolidation issues. The commission would: consist of 13 members; be appointed not later than September 15, 1997; conduct at least 10 public hearings throughout the state; form subcommittees to study specific issues; and issue a report on the commission's findings and recommendations by December 1, 1998. The University of Texas at San Antonio would provide the staff and support to the commission. Therefore, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
