TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1112
Committee on Health & Human Services By: Ellis
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1112 ( Relating
to development of a statewide consumer guide on child care.)
this office has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1112-As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would partially implement Texas Performance
Review recommendation HHS 5 in Disturbing the Peace. The bill
would require the Comptroller, with assistance from an interagency
work group, to develop and make available to the public a statewide
consumer guide on child care no later than January 1, 1998.
The cost of developing and publishing the guide should not
have a significant fiscal impact on the Comptroller's Office.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
