LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session March 25, 1997 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1114 Committee on Health & Human Services By: Ellis Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1114 ( Relating to the establishment of a "wheels for work" pilot program to assist certain recipients of AFDC.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1114-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would establish a pilot program for "Wheels for Work" in the Texas Workforce Commission in a county with a population in excess of 2.8 million. The program would be modeled on the Maryland "wheels for work" program and is designed to assist persons who receive financial assistance to find and maintain employment by helping them secure a donated vehicle at a low cost, and to provide donors with a receipt for federal tax deduction purposes.
