LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session May 1, 1997 TO: Honorable David Counts, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1175, Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted Committee on Natural Resources By: Whitmire House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1175 ( Relating to recall elections to remove a member of the board of directors of a municipal utility district.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1175-Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. If the voters of a municipal utility district exercise the right provided by this bill to petition for an election on the removal of the director, the district could incur costs associated with holding an election for that purpose and for an election to replace a director that is removed. The cost of an election would depend upon the number of residents within a district. Based on data collected in a survey conducted by the Texas Association of Counties, the median cost of a local election has been calculated at $0.40 per resident.
