FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
May 1, 1997
TO: Honorable David Counts, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1175, Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted
Committee on Natural Resources By: Whitmire
House
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1175 ( Relating
to recall elections to remove a member of the board of directors
of a municipal utility district.) this office has detemined
the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1175-Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
If the voters of a municipal utility district exercise the right
provided by this bill to petition for an election on the removal
of the director, the district could incur costs associated with
holding an election for that purpose and for an election to
replace a director that is removed. The cost of an election
would depend upon the number of residents within a district.
Based on data collected in a survey conducted by the Texas
Association of Counties, the median cost of a local election
has been calculated at $0.40 per resident.
