LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 8, 1997 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1262 Committee on Health & Human Services By: Ellis Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1262 ( Relating to the creation and operation of a pilot program to provide employment and training for certain persons on public assistance.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1262-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would implement Texas Performance Review (TPR) recommendation WF5 in Disturbing the Peace: The Challenge of Change in Texas Government. The bill would establish a new, dedicated Texas Employment and Training Account (account) within the General Revenue Fund 0001, to be used only for the payment of training stipends and for other authorized training activities. The account would be composed of employer contributions and state matching funds obtained through the block grant received by the state under the JOBS training program. It is assumed that the cost of implementation would be borne by existing personnel and resources at the Texas Workforce Commission and the Department of Human Services. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
