LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
April 8, 1997
TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1286
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Gallegos
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1286 ( Relating
to civil service for firefighters and police officers in certain
municipalities.) this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1286-As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The provisions of Section 1 of the bill relating to providing
a fire fighter or police officer with copies of each affidavit,
complaint, or witness statement regarding an investigation of
a fire fighter or police officer is not anticipated to result
in significant fiscal implications to municipalities which have
adopted civil service statutes.
The City of Houston anticipates
that the provisions of the bill which apply exclusively to that
city will, in some cases, increase the cost of investigation
of complaints against fire fighters and police officers.
