TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1297

          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1297 ( Relating
to disciplinary procedures and peer review for certain medical
practitioners; providing adminstrative penalties.) this office
has detemined the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1297-As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Physician assistants and acupunturists would be subject to administrative
penalties and disciplinary procedures as a result of peer review.
Although the bill would likely expand the legal responsibilities
and workload of the agency, the estimated twelve new cases is
relatively small and can be absorbed by the agency's current
resources. The bill would likely generate some revenue from
administrative penalties.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
