LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 14, 1997 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1297 Committee on Health & Human Services By: Cain Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1297 ( Relating to disciplinary procedures and peer review for certain medical practitioners; providing adminstrative penalties.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1297-As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. Physician assistants and acupunturists would be subject to administrative penalties and disciplinary procedures as a result of peer review. Although the bill would likely expand the legal responsibilities and workload of the agency, the estimated twelve new cases is relatively small and can be absorbed by the agency's current resources. The bill would likely generate some revenue from administrative penalties. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
