LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session April 18, 1997 TO: Honorable Teel Bivins, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1379, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted Committee on Education By: Ellis Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1379 ( Relating to adult education programs.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1379-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would implement the Texas Performance Review recommendation WF3 in Disturbing the Peace: The Challenge of Change in Texas Government. These changes would not require additional staff or resources at the Texas Education Agency (TEA). TEA already receives funds for developing the management information system to measure student skills. Work on the individual assessment instrument has been ongoing since 1994, and funding for the continued development should come from existing program evaluation funds at participating agencies.
