LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD

                                   FISCAL NOTE
                               75th Regular Session

                                  May 31, 1997

TO: Honorable Bob Bullock Honorable James E. "Pete" Laney
Lieutenant Governor Speaker of the House
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1425 ( relating
to confirmation elections for and costs relating to the establishment
of certain county development districts) this office has detemined
the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1425-Conference Committee Report

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.

The bill would allow a county to order that
costs associated with the creation of a county development district,
including publishing costs, public hearing costs, and the cost
of a confirmation and sales and use tax election, be paid by
the person petitioning the county for the creation of the district.
The bill's enactment could therefore result in some savings
to counties.
