LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
April 21, 1997
TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1425
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Nelson
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1425 ( Relating
to approval by voters of the establishment of certain county
development districts.) this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1425-As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill could result in increased confirmation election costs
to county development districts, since the bill would require
a commissioner precinct-wide election, rather than an election
confined to the voters living in a district with fewer than
100 registered voters. Increased election costs would depend
on the number of additional residents that would be included
in an election. The median cost of a local election has been
calculated at $.40 per resident, based on data collected in
a survey conducted by the Texas Association of Counties in December
1996.
