                                   FISCAL NOTE
                               75th Regular Session

                                  April 24, 1997

TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1425, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Nelson
          Senate
          Austin, Texas

         FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1425 ( Relating
to confirmation elections and costs relating to the establishment
of certain county development districts.) this office has detemined
the following:

Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1425-Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government
is anticipated.

The bill would allow a county to order that
costs associated with the creation of a county development district,
including publishing costs, public hearing costs, and the cost
of a confirmation and sales and use tax election, be paid by
the person petitioning the county for the creation of the district.
This bill's enactment could therefore result in some cost
savings to counties.
