LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD

FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
March 24, 1997
TO: Honorable J.E. "Buster" Brown, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1465
Committee on Natural Resources By: Brown
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1465 ( Relating
to the handling and testing of certain animals; providing a
penalty.) this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1465-As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would repeal the statutory rate paid to compensate
owners for cattle that must be destroyed as a result of exposure
or infection from tuberculosis and would authorize the Animal
Health Commission to set the indemnity rate. The commission
estimates that an increase in the indemnity from a statutory
range of $35 to $75 to a single indemnity of $250 would result
in a cost to the General Revenue Fund of $2,510 per year.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
