LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 75th Regular Session May 20, 1997 TO: Honorable Rene Oliveira, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1491, Committee Report 2nd House, as amended Committee on Economic Development By: Ellis House Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1491 ( relating to the creation of the self-sufficiency fund to develop job training for certain recipients of the financial assistance program for persons with dependent children.) this office has detemined the following: Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1491-Committee Report 2nd House, as amended No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would create a self-sufficiency fund to be used by public community colleges, technical colleges, and community based organizations as start-up funds for AFDC recipient job training. It is assumed that the source of funding would be appropriated federal funds. The commission would coordinate contracts between employers and public educational institutions for training qualified participants. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
