LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
75th Regular Session
April 16, 1997
TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 1696
Committee on Intergovernmental Relations By: Ellis
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on SB1696 ( Relating
to the enforcement of land use restrictions in certain counties.)
this office has detemined the following:
Biennial Net Impact to General Revenue Funds by SB1696-As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill would allow county attorneys in counties with populations
exceeding 200,000 to enforce subdivision platting restrictions.
Counties
could recover some costs associated with enforcing platting
restrictions, since Chapter 203 of the Property Code provides
for an administrative fee to administer the chapter. Denton
County anticipates that these fees would be sufficient so that
the bill would result in no significant fiscal implications
to the county.
Tarrant County and Travis County both anticipate
that this bill would result in increased costs. Tarrant County
estimates initial start-up costs of about $39,000 and continuing
annual costs of approximately $130,000, because of the need
to hire additional staff and acquire additional equipment.
Travis County estimates an annual impact of $137,000, including
staff and equipment acquisition costs.
